Then a red / green color blind mother gives birth to a son who will not red / green color blind?
I always thought that since red / green color blindness is an error on the X-gene, and a woman needed the error on both X genes it be color blind. His son would have his Y-gene his father and X-gene from his mother. And his X-gene would have the red / green color blindness, so he must be colorblind. Is it wrong?
A red / green blind (Rgcb) mother can not give birth to a son normal. For rgcb mother, her two "X" chromosomes must be defective in meiosis, All eggs will be broken. "Father Y chromosome has no allele coding for normal vision and, therefore, all the son will have X (default) Y genotype and all will rgcb son. If the father is normal vision, all the girls will have normal vision, like all normal girls do "X" of the father.
