How can you indentfy model and the value of the antique china?

My husband has ancient china and porcelain pieces that we need identify. It has a late 1800s Wedgwood plate. Ugliest thing I've ever seen, but it could be valuable. He has a background torquoise braiding into basket with fruit on it. This is an embossed pattern, unpainted. In addition, three plates of all, each with a different design from the same flower, a rhododenren, these figures are low, but what I think is name is engraved on the plate is filled with glaze and can not be read. Overdue, I a plateau, it is not old, but the name of 1899 China Company painted / decaled? on the back and I find nothing about this company. Suggestions?
