China planning to build a bullet train from Beijing to London?
China announced they are negotiating with 17 countries to build a bullet train between Beijing and Europe to be that one day trip for two to London to Beijing. A potential route has not been published. I think the first part is easy (Kunming in China in Mandalay, Myanamar, then in Dhaka, Pakistan and New Delhi. It is not clear from there? Islamabad or Karachi? Tehran or north of the Caspian Sea? Crossing the mountains of the Caspian and Turkey and in southern Europe? What do you think? It is 11 hours or 10 if you go non-stop depending on the direction. The train could be 44-48 hours, there will be four times longer. But it would probably much better on the environment.
The problem with this is that it must pass through areas with very unstable governments or problems terrorism - Afghanistan, possibly Iran, some of the former republics of the former Soviet Union. Of course, a route already exist Beijing London - via Mongolia and the Trans-Siberian. I thought if this is a true proposition, then this would be the way forward. As far as taking Chinese worldwide, has not already happened? I must admit that I do not understand the comments in the primary response to "a long track" faced problems - other than geo-political.
